Lo que what we are most often asked

I was summoned to questioning at the Prosecutor's Office. Should I go alone?
Do not go alone and do not make a statement without your lawyer. In Colombia you have the right to remain silent and not to testify against yourself (Article 33 of the Constitution; Article 8 of Law 906 of 2004), and your silence cannot be used against you. Questioning of the suspect is not mandatory: it takes place only if you, having already been advised of your rights, decide to proceed, and always in the presence of your lawyer (Article 282). Before any proceeding we define with you what is in your best interest and we accompany you.
Can I be arrested? Can I be released?
It depends on the stage, the facts and the offense. In the initial consultation we explain the real picture to you, without promising results. Preventive detention is exceptional and must meet legal requirements; if there is such a risk, we start building the defense of your freedom for the hearing right away.
Do you work with victims or only with the accused?
With both. We represent victims who seek to have the proceeding move forward and the harm repaired, and we provide technical defense for accused persons. The scope of each case is defined in the consultation.
Do you attend to clients outside office hours?
As a general rule, we attend during office hours. The exception is the hearing to legalize an arrest: when a family member is arrested, the law requires that the person be brought before a guarantee-control judge within the following 36 hours (Article 28 of the Constitution), and we handle that hearing subject to the availability of our criminal lawyers according to the demand for arrest-legalization hearings at that time. For everything else, write to us on WhatsApp or call the line and we will respond to you at the start of the working day.

Yes. We sign a confidentiality agreement before reviewing the first document, and your case is never used as a public example.

Nuestra oficina está en Bogotá y tenemos cobertura nacional: asumimos casos en otras ciudades según el proceso. En materia penal, más que buscar un abogado penalista cerca de su casa, lo decisivo es elegir bien a quien dirige la defensa; por eso la primera consulta puede ser presencial en Bogotá o virtual desde donde usted esté.
¿Atienden como abogados criminalistas?
Sí. En Colombia, el abogado penalista es el mismo profesional que muchas personas llaman criminalista: quien ejerce la defensa penal y el derecho penal ante la Fiscalía y los jueces. No es una especialidad distinta, y poco importa que lo busque como bufete, despacho o firma de abogados penalistas: lo decisivo es la dedicación con que se lleva el caso.
